Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Capability Manager at our Rosyth site to lead the organisation's nuclear competence and capability framework, ensure workforce readiness and regulatory compliance, and safely deliver nuclear programmes. This is a high-visibility role working with senior leaders, engineering teams and regulators to shape long-term capability planning.

Based in Rosyth with hybrid working, the role is full-time and involves coordinating with LC 12/LC10; you'll influence safety-critical

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing competence, capability, authorisation and SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel) frameworks within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated, safety-critical environment.
• Knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements, compliance obligations and competence management principles -Desirable
• Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits and compliance activities, including knowledge of Licence Condition 12 (LC12) requirements - Desirable
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage safety-critical workforce capability and support the mitigation of operational risk.

This is a unique opportunity to help deliver one of the UK's most important defence infrastructure programmes. Working on the new Contingent Docking Facility at Rosyth, you'll play a central role in ensuring the right people, with the right skills and experience, are in place to safely support nuclear operations. You'll be at the forefront of maintaining nuclear competence standards, supporting regulatory compliance, and helping to build the capability needed for current and future programmes.

The role

As a Capability Manager, you'll lead and develop the organisation's nuclear competence and capability framework, ensuring workforce readiness, regulatory compliance, and the safe delivery of nuclear programmes. This is a highly visible role where you'll work with senior leaders, engineering teams, safety specialists and regulators to shape long-term capability planning and manage safety-critical competence risks. It's an exciting opportunity to influence strategic decision-making while contributing to projects that support national security and public safety.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

• Manage and maintain the nuclear competence and capability framework.
• Manage a small team of staff and integrate with the wider team managing LC 10, 12, and 36.
• Supporting regulatory inspections, audits and assurance activities.
• Advising senior leaders on capability, succession planning and competence risks.
• Collaborating with engineering, nuclear safety, HR and workforce planning teams to maintain workforce readiness.
• Ensuring suitably qualified and experienced personnel are identified and authorised for safety-critical activities.

This is a full-time role based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available. Working hours are Monday to Thursday.

Essential experience of the Capability Manager:

Qualifications for the Capability Manager:

• Degree qualified or significant experience in similar role.
