Job summary

Brakes is a leading UK foodservice supplier; we seek a Head Kitchen Cook in Tamworth to prepare meals, assist in cooking, and ensure clean, safe kitchen operations. You will support menu planning, catering events, and rota duties while delivering friendly service to internal colleagues.

A satisfying role

You’ll be responsible for preparing food ingredients, assisting in the cooking process and maintaining a clean and sanitary food preparation area. On a typical shift you can expect to be cooking simple meals for up to 150 internal colleagues. This is a varied role where you will be able to assist in the planning of menus,setting up catering events as and when necessary and rota organisation. You’ll undertake cashier duties and be responsible for operating a till for contactless payments. We work as a team to all undertake cleaning and washing up in the kitchen and dining areas.

What you bring to the mix

• previous experience in cooking and food handling in a fast paced time pressured commercial kitchen environment.
• ability to pick new skills up quickly both in the kitchen and on a computerusing Microsoft office.
• customer service skillsalong with an awareness oflevel 3 in Food Safety Supervision for catering and a level 2 HACCP
• .Previous card payment experiencewould be advantageous

but don't worry is not essential and we can teach you the basics required for the role.You’ll have a desire to learn and understand more about the business; approaching tasks with both an ability to think on your feet for problem-solving and a positivecan-do attitude
