Job summary

Pilgrim's Europe is looking for a friendly Canteen Assistant to join the catering team in Westerleigh. This weekly-paid role involves assisting with food preparation, serving customers, and handling till transactions.

You will work Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 15:00 in a full-time capacity, ensuring high standards of hygiene and customer service on site. The role requires prior kitchen or customer-facing experience, solid numeracy, and a good understanding of food hygiene.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen environment or customer-facing role is preferred.
• Good understanding of food hygiene requirements is beneficial.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and numeracy are essential.

Responsibilities

• Stock taking and maintaining inventory.
• Preparing and serving food and beverages.
• Handling cash and operating a till.
• Preparing food as required and keeping work areas clean.
• Interacting with customers and colleagues in a friendly manner.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety and HACCP guidelines.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Stock taking;
• Preparing and serving food / beverages;
• Collecting monies and operating a cash till;
• Preparing food as required;
• Interacting with internal and external customers;
• Cleaning of kitchen equipment, worktops, tables and floors;
• Assisting with ad hoc requests (such as buffets, engagement events etc.);
• Complying with H&S and food hygiene requirements (to ensure in line with legal compliance);
• Complying with COSHH and HACCP guidelines.

Key Requirements Of The Role Will Include

• Previous experience in a kitchen environment and/or in a customer-facing role;
• Good understanding of food hygiene requirements (ideally food safety trained);
• Good verbal, written and numerical skills (to include handling cash); and
• Well organised and self-motivated.
