Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Basildon is seeking an enthusiastic administrative professional to join a new role focused on improving cancer services. You will coordinate rapid diagnostic pathways, monitor patient journeys and use digital systems to keep pathways on track across Basildon Hospital and other sites.

Working closely with clinical and operational teams, you will ensure patients progress smoothly through the diagnostic journey, coordinating appointments, investigations

Qualifications

• Significant previous administrative experience within a healthcare setting.
• Experience of applying hospital administration systems.
• Ability to produce accurate, well presented work on MS Office.
• Understanding of the key challenges facing the Trust.
• GCSE Maths/English Grade C or above, or equivalent.
• A level NVQ3.

Responsibilities

• Be a single point of contact for patients throughout their diagnostic journey.
• Communicate with patients and carers with empathy, diplomacy and integrity.
• Coordinate assessments, investigations and appointments.
• Coordinate transfer of care between service teams and interfaces of care.
• Refer and signpost to the clinical team as appropriate.
• Triage incoming calls and initiate appropriate responses.
• Manage referrals into the RDC referral assessment service (RAS).
