Job summary

JobsTrackR in Bristol is seeking a Diagnostics Engineer to join the technical support team. This hands-on role focuses on CAN bus diagnostics, fault finding and root-cause analysis using CANoe and CANalyzer.

You'll decode messages with DBC files, assess hardware/software issues and decide on remote vs field intervention, helping to improve support processes. The position is on-site, with a salary £42k-£47k DOE, and requires full rights to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with CANoe, CANalyzer or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of CAN protocol, message decoding and DBC files.
• 3–5 years' experience in diagnostics, technical support, test/validation or a similar hardware-focused role.
• Experience with complex electro-mechanical or integrated hardware/software systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Confident communicating technical findings to engineers, customers and other stakeholders.
• A proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of technical problems.
• Experience in EV charging, automotive, energy storage or power electronics would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

Responsibilities

• Analyse CAN bus traffic using Vector tools such as CANoe/CANalyzer.
• Decode CAN messages using DBC files and identify fault signatures.
• Diagnose hardware, software and configuration issues.
• Decide whether faults can be resolved remotely or require field intervention.
• Provide engineers and field service partners with clear technical findings.
• Build knowledge around recurring faults and diagnostic solutions.
• Work with senior stakeholders to improve support processes and workflows.
