Job summary

Leeds City College is seeking a Student Relations Officer for the Park Lane Campus to support young people in achieving attendance, academic goals, and progression plans (university, apprenticeships, or work). You will greet students, encourage positive behaviour, and help deliver campaigns that make a tangible impact.

The role emphasizes energy, empathy, and adaptability with a focus on building relationships and motivating students in a busy campus environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in education, youth work, or community settings.
• Ability to connect with and motivate young people, building positive relationships.
• Experience supporting campus safety and security with a proactive approach.
• Team player who is also independent, using initiative to solve problems.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to juggle priorities.
• Confidence in managing challenging situations using restorative practices.

Responsibilities

• Build a strong sense of community by encouraging respectful communication and positive relationships among students, staff, and visitors.
• Lead by example, modelling positive behaviour and using restorative approaches to guide and support students when challenges arise.
• Inspire students to engage fully in their studies and wider college life by boosting attendance, punctuality, and participation in enrichment activities.
• Support student wellbeing, responding with care and professionalism to sensitive issues and signposting learners to the right support services.
• Help keep our campus safe and secure, taking appropriate action and contributing to a calm, respectful environment.
