Job summary

The University of St Andrews is seeking a Security and Response Officer to join the University Security and Response Team. You will help keep students, staff, and visitors safe across the University Estate, using CCTV and incident reporting systems to respond to alarms and concerns.

Training is provided during deployment, with mandatory Emergency First Aid and Higher Education Safety and Security courses. A 12-hour shift pattern supports a 24/7 service, with a salary uplift for night hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in security or safety roles is preferred.
• Be willing to undergo Basic Disclosure check and driving assessment.
• Training will be provided during deployment and during probation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure university buildings are secure and alarms are responded to promptly.
• Operate and utilise CCTV, incident recording system and digital radio/telephony tools.
• Provide 24/7, all year-round security and response coverage in a 12-hour day/night shift pattern.
• Complete required documentation of incidents and actions.
• Participate in training including Emergency First Aid and Higher Education Safety and Security.
