Job summary

The University of Salford is seeking a skilled Plumber to join the in-house Estates Maintenance team on a full-time basis. You will carry out planned and reactive plumbing and heating works across a large campus, collaborating with a trades team to keep buildings safe and compliant.

Applicants should hold City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating, and be able to work independently, manage workloads, and follow health and safety procedures. CSCS Gold Card is preferred.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating is essential.
• Ability to work on planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Solid knowledge of water and heating systems and safety requirements.
• Understanding of HVAC systems and electrical safety.
• Adherence to Health and Safety practices and procedures.
• Willingness to support minor joinery/electrical tasks when needed.
• Ability to work independently, manage workloads and prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Planned preventative maintenance of water and heating systems, including plantroom checks.
• Reactive plumbing repairs and fault diagnosis across water, heating, and drainage systems.
• Minor installation works such as new water supplies and radiators.
• Support water hygiene and Legionella control through safe maintenance.
• Work independently or with the trades team as required.
• Collaborate with electricians, joiners, and external contractors.
• Take part in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
• Ensure all work complies with University procedures and health and safety laws.
