Job summary

Canford School in Wimborne is seeking an on-site Porter to be the welcoming first face on campus and provide essential support across daily operations and safety. You will help with logistics, waste, post, and contribute to security awareness.

Role requires a full driving licence and the ability to work shifts, including evenings or weekends when required. You will collaborate with reception and Estates teams to maintain a secure, well-run campus.

Qualifications

• Full, current driving licence (D1/B1) with E where applicable.
• Experience managing and prioritising workload in a busy environment.
• Experience identifying service needs and delivering innovative solutions.
• Competent with IT systems and Microsoft applications.
• Good communication skills; able to negotiate or defuse in stressful situations.
• Customer service focused; polite, helpful and cheerful.
• Ability to multitask and use own initiative to meet commitments.

Responsibilities

• Be the welcoming first face for Canford School visitors and a reassuring presence on site.
• Carry out Help Desk tasks to ensure events and daily operations run smoothly.
• Assist with furniture moves and logistics, including post management and waste handling.
• Manage parking and traffic arrangements during events and ensure road safety.
• Assist reception/Estates with key, padlock and ID card management.
• Carry out security awareness tasks and respond to incidents or alarms as required.
