Job summary

A higher education provider in England is seeking a Campus Maintenance Technician (Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer) to maintain and refurbish facilities across their UK campuses. This role involves monitoring building conditions, undertaking repairs, and assisting with refurbishment projects. The ideal candidate will hold certifications in electrical installations, have experience in building maintenance, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Qualifications

  • Certification in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations is essential.
  • City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure building and equipment maintenance is conducted efficiently.
  • Maintain health, safety, and compliance standards in all works.

Skills

Role Overview

The Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer will maintain, install, and refurbish fabric and the equipment across the GBS UK estates portfolio. They will monitor the condition of GBS buildings, undertake repairs and renovations, and assist Estates and Facilities in the planning of refurbishment projects. This role may require travel to other GBS UK campuses and demands flexible working to accommodate business operations. They will work a 40‑hour week, covering campus operating hours from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 9:30 pm, with occasional out‑of‑hours work as required.

Requirements & Skills
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
  • City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations, or equivalent NVQ, or demonstrable experience to the same standard.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance including M&E systems.
  • Manual skills, knowledge of refurbishment techniques.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work with “can do” attitude.
  • Familiarity with COSHH requirements for the equipment and chemicals being used.
  • Interpersonal skill and ability to work on your own but at the same time part of the facilities wider team
  • Full, Clean Driving License
