Job summary

University of Leeds is seeking an proactive Assistant Laboratory Technician to support our busy laboratories in the School of Food Science and Nutrition. You will help with day-to-day upkeep, equipment maintenance and training to improve the laboratory user experience.

The role is campus based, five days per week, with opportunity to contribute to safety practices and high standards in a teaching environment.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs or equivalent including Mathematics and a science subject.
• Good understanding of chemical hazards, safe handling and disposal.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; able to work on own initiative and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day upkeep, organisation and operation of busy laboratories.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness; prepare materials and maintain equipment.
• Provide basic training and offer general support and advice to laboratory users.
