Job summary

Conestoga College in Cambridge seeks a skilled HVAC Technician to operate, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across multiple campus locations. The role emphasizes safe, efficient, and reliable mechanical performance to support a comfortable learning environment.

This position offers a predictable Monday–Friday schedule with on-site work, travel to other campuses, and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Certificate of qualification as Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (313A) is required.
• Gas Technician 2 (G2) certification is required; G1 preferred.
• Ozone Depletion Prevention Card (CFC) is required.
• Minimum of five years of practical experience with mechanical/electronic systems.
• Knowledge of Energy Act, HVAC Code, CSA, and OHSA.
• Strong BAS knowledge and large-system experience.
• Valid G driver’s license; able to support after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, update, and repair HVAC building support systems including BAS and controls.
• Monitor and repair refrigeration systems and water treatment for HVAC.
• Perform preventive maintenance and document results for CMMS input.
• Source parts, estimate quantities and costs, and purchase materials.
• Install and commission new HVAC equipment and monitor systems via software.
• Oversee contractors and report findings to the Manager of Operations & Maintenance.
