Job summary

Lancaster University’s Estates & Facilities Division is seeking a Grounds Person to help maintain the campus grounds, sports pitches and landscaped areas. You will join the Grounds Team and contribute to a safe, attractive environment for students, staff and visitors.

The role is full-time with seasonal hours averaging 36.5 per week, based at Bailrigg, Lancaster. Applicants should have grounds maintenance experience and a full UK driving licence; training and pension benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture or a similar role.
• A full UK Driving Licence.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Reliable, flexible and proactive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out grounds maintenance and horticultural tasks across the campus.
• Maintain sports pitches and outdoor facilities.
• Operate grounds maintenance machinery safely and effectively.
• Support litter management, campus presentation and seasonal maintenance.
• Participate in winter gritting and snow clearance operations.
