Job summary

Lancaster University is seeking a Grounds Team Assistant to help maintain campus aesthetics, safety and cleanliness across the extensive grounds. The role involves environmental maintenance, waste management and providing a friendly, professional service to students, staff and visitors.

You will work outdoors in all weather, with full training provided. The position offers seasonal hours averaging 36.5 per week, with some weekend support for events, and a supportive team within the Estates and

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance or environmental services is advantageous
• Full training will be provided
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and maintain high cleanliness standards

Responsibilities

• Empty external litter and recycling bins across campus
• Litter picking and maintaining external areas to a high standard
• Sweeping paths, roads, pedestrian areas, and other hard surfaces
• Maintaining clean, tidy bin stores
• Cleaning external fixtures and surfaces, including bins and canopies
• Seasonal gritting, snow clearance and winter maintenance duties
• Identify and report cleanliness, maintenance and safety issues
• Provide a helpful and professional service to students, staff and visitors
• Be reliable, flexible and able to respond to changing operational priorities
