Job summary

Edge Hill University is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to keep the campus welcoming, safe and well-presented throughout the year. You will maintain grounds, gardens and external facilities, carrying out planting, mowing, pruning and seasonal maintenance with hands-on, practical work and training provided.

You will work as part of Facilities Management, with duties including winter gritting, event prep, driving and sports-ground upkeep as required, contributing to a clean, inclusive

Qualifications

• Experience of horticulture, grounds maintenance, landscaping, machinery operation or a similar practical environment would be valuable.
• Reliable, adaptable and motivated to maintain a clean, attractive campus environment.
• Willing to learn how to use grounds-maintenance machinery safely and complete routine administration, including safety checks and daily work logs.

Responsibilities

• Planting, pruning, hedge trimming, grass cutting, weeding and seasonal maintenance.
• Litter picking, jet washing and general external cleaning.
• Safely use equipment such as pedestrian and ride-on mowers, strimmers and hedge trimmers.
• Support winter gritting and snow clearance, event preparation and driving duties.
• Sports-ground maintenance when required.
