Job summary

Coventry College is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our on-site dining team at 50 Swanswell Street, Coventry. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week over 36 weeks per year, with a salary in the range £20,987 to £21,407 per year (equivalent to £26,166 to £26,690 FTE) depending on qualifications and experience.

The role involves preparing dining and service areas, assisting with food and beverage preparation and service, cleaning equipment and areas to standards, and undertaking on-the-job

Qualifications

• An organized, enthusiastic individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently with an understanding of basic food hygiene, cleanliness and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the dining area for service, which may include moving and/or setting up furniture and trolleys
• Prepare the service area, hot cupboards and other equipment
• Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages
• Wash dishes, cutlery, tumblers, jugs, serving utensils, containers, tables and all other catering equipment
• Clean catering areas to regulated standards
• Undertake on and off the job training as required by management
• Inform the Unit Manager of any defects in equipment or premises
• There may be a requirement to transfer to and from both catering units (South/North Buildings)
• Undertake any other duties that may be required for the effective operation of the catering establishment.
