Job summary

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the Campus Services Catering Team. The role is an annualised hours contract of 1,230 hours per annum (0.80709 FTE), with shifts between 7.00am and 8.00pm across university outlets.

You will prepare and serve beverages, work with cashless systems, and uphold food hygiene and service standards while delivering excellent customer service to students, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Experience in catering/hospitality/customer-facing environments.
• Barista experience advantageous; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve barista coffees and other beverages to a high standard.
• Provide friendly, professional service to students, staff and visitors.
• Operate cashless and cash payments; maintain financial controls.
• Undertake basic food preparation and presentation per recipes.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
• Ensure food is prepared, stored and served per safety procedures.
• Maintain clean service areas and restock displays.
• Support stock rotation, waste management and housekeeping.
• Work flexibly within the catering team to meet busy periods.
• Comply with university policies, health and safety and brand standards.
