Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a CAMHS Nurse Clinician (Band 5) to join the North Durham CAMHS team. The post offers opportunities to work within a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment and intervention for children and young people.

We welcome Registered Nurses including newly registered; the service provides training, supervision, and development opportunities, with a focus on patient-centred care and safeguarding within mental health services.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and CAMHS eligibility.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and with families.
• Commitment to safeguarding, risk assessment and clinical governance.
• Willingness to undertake supervision, appraisal and CPD activities.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint a CAMHS Clinician on a fixed term basis. This CAMHS team is a dynamic team that is comprised of CAMHS clinicians with varying professional backgrounds, enabling us to provide high-quality holistic mental health care to the children and young people accessing our services.

The successful applicant will work with the MDT to provide assessment and intervention to children and young people. As part of the MDT, we will provide ongoing support to the successful applicant through supervision and talent management.

We are a forward thinking, creative team that encourages all team members to share their ideas to improve our service for young people and their families. The role of the CAMHS clinician is crucial in young peoples recovery and improving outcomes. The successful applicant could have skills in delivering a therapy, non-medical prescribing or have experience in providing nursing or Mental Health interventions, risk management or care co-ordination.

As part of the MDT, you will have the opportunity to provide evidence based interventions and therapies to children and young peoples.

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS trust places an emphasis on Staff wellbeing and provides access to a number of formal staff support services, which are available to staff on appointment. North Durham CAMHS have identified a number of staff within the team who coordinate a number of in-house staff wellbeing activities. The team are regularly available to meet with staff members and there are regular whole team events to support staff whilst they are at work.

Person Specification

Experience

• Experience working in a multidiscplinary team
• Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
• Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
• Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
• Working in partnership with other agencies

Knowledge

• Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
• Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
• Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practic
• Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
• Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
• Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections

Qualifications

• Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC - CAMHS only ) - RGN (If appropriate)
• To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
• Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
