Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality CAMHS assessments for children and families referred to the Tier 3 service.
  • Provide access to a range of psychotherapeutic interventions per assessed need.
  • Act as co-therapist with MDT when appropriate.
  • Manage a defined caseload and undertake case management tasks.
  • Identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the child and others.
  • Liaise with other professionals outside the MDT.
  • Monitor clinical effectiveness using Routine Outcome Measures and engage in reviews.
  • Participate in CAMHS emergency duty rota for urgent mental health assessments.

We have an opportunity for a full time Band 6 CAMHS practitioner post in Stockport CAMHS.

One of our priorities is supporting our team with their continued professional development. As such, we offer flexibility to ensure skills and knowledge are offered and expanded in many areas of our service.

Main duties of the job
  • To ensure high quality CAMHS assessment of children and families referred to the Tier 3 service.
  • To provide access to a range of quality psychotherapeutic interventions in accordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approaches either alone or as a member of the MDT.
  • Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of the MDT.
  • To be responsible for and manage a defined caseload and undertake case management responsibilities within the caseload.
  • To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the child and others in line with Pennine care and CAMHS procedures and protocols.
  • Undertake liaison and joint work with other professionals outside of the MDT
  • To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROM) and where outcomes are not improving for children and families to engage in clinical review via peer review meetings and supervision.
  • To take part in the CAMHS emergency duty rota in order to provide urgent mental health assessment of children including those admitted following self-harm and in line with Pennine care protocols

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
  • NMC nursing or social work or equivalent Health /social care qualification
  • Professional registration (RMN/SW/OT)
  • Significant post qualification experience in community mental health services to post graduate diploma level
  • Teaching reference number (TRN)
Experience
  • Professional involvement with the users of mental health services.
  • Experience of case management of young people
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Experience of relating to young people in a group or community setting
  • Had a role as a SENCO or worked within a specialist provision
  • Post qualifying teaching experience.
  • Significant work with Children and young people requiring emotional health and wellbeing interventions.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of mental health issues in young people
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and National policies in relation to young people.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions with young people
  • Understanding of Youth Offending services.
  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues relating to young people
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to undertake appropriate mental health assessments
  • Ability to carry out therapeutic interventions with this client group
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly in a clinical context
