Job summary

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a CAMHS Senior MHP (Psychological Therapist - CBT) for 24 hours per week. You will lead CBT pathways, perform mental health assessments, and supervise colleagues within a senior clinical role in the CAMHS service in Bury.

The post requires senior clinical leadership, evidence-based CBT expertise with children and adolescents, and involvement in staff development and service modernization under the clinical lead.

Qualifications

• Professional qualifications relevant to work in child and adolescent mental health (nursing, social work, psychology or occupational therapy).
• Specialist post-qualification training in psychological therapy with children and families (postgraduate diploma level).
• Accreditation with accrediting bodies (e.g. BABCP, IAY).
• Additional post-graduate qualifications relevant to child mental health.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead specific CBT treatment pathways for children, adolescents and families.
• Provide mental health assessments and a wide range of evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
• Deliver clinical supervision and support colleagues delivering psychologically based care.

Bury CAMHS has an opportunity for a permitted contract for 24 hours per week Band 7 CAMHS Senior MHP (Psychological Therapist - CBT) .

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in senior clinical leadership position, have excellent communication skills, welcome a challenge and have a real desire to make a difference to the care we provide to the child and adolescent age group inclusive of evolving models of care and modernisation of mental health services.

You should be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and have a flexible approach.

You must have experience of working and delivering CBT to a wide range of clinical presentations including working in the field and child and adolescent mental health. Your main responsibility will be for developing and leading specific treatment pathways, providing mental health assessments and a wide range of psychotherapeutic interventions for children, adolescents and families using evidence based interventions.

You will also provide professional clinical supervision and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other practitioners who provide psychologically based care and treatment and contribute to the leadership of the service under the direction of the operational manager and clinical lead.

We have a robust supervision policy which ensures that clinical and managerial supervision are delivered by different people for each clinician and we also provide specialist clinical supervision where necessary in order for people to maintain or work towards accreditation in therapeutic modalities where their role requires it.

Person specification

education/qualifications

• Professional qualifications relevant to work in child and adolescent mental health e.g. nursing, social work, postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology or occupational therapy

Experience

• Substantial experience of working with children, adolescents and families presenting with emotional and behavioural difficulties inc family relationship problems
• Managing a caseload and associated professional activities under supervision and working in MDT setting
• Experience of providing evidence based psychological therapy to children and adolescents
• Experience of providing clinical supervision and line management to team members
• Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner
• Working in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes

Knowledge

• Theoretical approach and understanding to child mental health and development
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and government policy relating to children’s mental health
• Child protection knowledge and practice
• Understanding of principles and methods of clinical audit research and service evaluation
