Job description

Eligible for a Recruitment/Retention payment of £3,000 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 2 instalments over a 24-month period. Terms and conditions apply, including repayment if you leave within this period.

Are you interested in advancing your career within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)? Do you want to work in a team that empowers and makes you proud to be a Nurse? Are you seeking an environment that supports your development and allows you to flourish as a practitioner? If so, the South London and Maudsley CAMHS Inpatient Units might be the right place for you.

We are passionate about delivering patient-centered, safe, and effective care across our Adolescent Inpatient Units, including general and PICU. Patients are at the heart of everything we do.

We believe that providing quality care depends on employing outstanding people. We aim to recruit individuals who will go the extra mile for our patients and colleagues. We are committed to supporting our staff through development opportunities at every career stage, fostering future leaders within our team.

Existing CAMHS experience is not essential, as we offer excellent learning and development opportunities, including leadership, managerial skills, and clinical interventions. We value transferable skills and experience demonstrated through your application and interview.

We also welcome skilled practitioners from diverse backgrounds such as adult mental health, learning disability, and paediatric settings who wish to develop their CAMHS-specific skills.

Our in-house development programme and the CAMHS Nursing Academy, based on the four pillars of advanced nursing practice, support ongoing professional growth.

We have vacancies across our adolescent units:

  • Snowsfields Adolescent Unit, Maudsley Hospital
  • Bethlem Adolescent Unit, Bethlem Royal Hospital
  • CAMHS Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Bethlem Royal Hospital

The Bethlem units provide care for some of the most unwell and vulnerable young people requiring secure mental health services in a compassionate, safe, and timely manner.

We are dedicated to ensuring our staff enjoy a comprehensive benefits package and work-life balance. Our benefits include:

  • Generous pay, pensions, and leave, depending on role and service length
  • Flexible working options, including part-time and job sharing
  • Career development opportunities through mentoring, coaching, leadership, and talent programmes
  • Car lease schemes with competitive deals
  • Keyworker housing options at selected sites
  • NHS discounts up to 10% at various retail outlets

Additional benefits include counseling services, wellbeing events, long service awards, cycle-to-work schemes, season ticket loans, childcare vouchers, and staff restaurants.
