We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and dedicated Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join our team on the Chelsea site, in the dynamic and contemporary Rapid Diagnostics and Assessment Unit. The successful candidate will work alongside the department Sister and SSN team, to provide expert care and support to patients. The ideal candidate will also have surgical and pre-assessment skills and an interest in supporting the Minor Ops clinics and phlebotomy. Support and training will be provided for the right candidate. The role involves working with clinicians from various disciplines, including the innovative One Stop Breast and Urology clinics, assisting with biopsies, running nurse-led dressing clinics and much more.

Mentoring and support of junior and new staff to the department will also be a key aspect of this role. The successful candidate will be a qualified Staff Nurse with experience in an acute hospital setting. Someone who is dynamic, flexible and a good team player, with a real commitment to providing excellent patient care, is the person we are looking for. Experience of working in a clinic setting would be an advantage, but is not essential.

  • To coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, evidence-led care to patients.
  • To exercise clinical judgment and decision making about patient needs in terms of long term goals or plans.
  • To participate fully in the day to day organization and running of clinical trials including the recruitment, education and monitoring of patients entering a clinical trial and liaison as required with trial sponsors.
  • To help foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale
  • The Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for assisting the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse in the management of the clinical environment and for the management of shifts. At Senior Staff Nurse level, the post holder is required to take responsibility for the management and development of a team of employees under the supervision of the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse
