Job summary

BCUHB North Wales is seeking an enthusiastic CAMHS Administrative Assistant to provide accurate, efficient administrative support to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in the East area. The role requires confidentiality, good IT skills and a professional telephone manner.

You will copy typing, manage diaries, coordinate appointments, and support day-to-day functions of the team, with reception duties as required. Applications from Welsh and English speakers are welcome.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 in Administration or equivalent level of knowledge/experience.
  • Good Standard of Education including English and Maths.
  • Audio Typing and ECDL/RSA are desirable.

Job Overview

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide accurate, efficient, and effective administrative support to Children and Young People's Services within the East area.

The successful candidate will possess a good standard of education, excellent communication skills, and a professional telephone manner, with the ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels. They will be organised, proactive, and capable of managing their workload effectively, using their own initiative to meet competing priorities and deadlines.

Previous experience working in a busy office environment is essential, particularly in settings with frequent interruptions, high workloads, and conflicting demands. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong keyboard and IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.

The ability to maintain a professional, sensitive, and confidential approach at all times is essential. Experience of audio typing would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Administrative Assistant will provide efficient, effective, and flexible administrative support to the service. Key responsibilities will include copy typing, managing electronic and paper-based diaries, coordinating appointments, and supporting the day-to-day administrative functions of the team. The post holder may also be required to undertake reception duties as needed.

Due to the nature of the role, the post holder will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality at all times and handle sensitive information appropriately. They will interact with patients, carers, family members, medical staff, colleagues, and visitors both in person and in writing, demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and discretion in all communications.

The post holder will work under the guidance of the Administration Manager, who will be available to provide support, advice, and direction as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; however, applications are welcomed from both Welsh and English speakers.
