Job summary

ITV is seeking a Camera Assistant to support safe operation of camera equipment across studio and location shoots. You will work with production to deliver high-quality content and build strong relationships in a fast-paced team.

You will bring hands-on camera experience, knowledge of lens tech, dollies, track and cranes, plus a proactive approach to safety and professional conduct. A UK driving licence is desirable and flexible working options are available.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical role within TV, broadcast, live production or a comparable technical environment.
  • Basic understanding of camera, lens technology, lighting techniques and production technology.
  • Understanding of how camera work contributes to visual storytelling.
  • Knowledge of dollies, track, cranes and camera mountings.
  • Experience of working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle and move production equipment safely.
  • Professional conduct and confidentiality in production environments.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Full UK manual driving licence (desirable).
  • Flexible working with a range of options.

Job description

Working across both studio and location shoots, you'll support the safe and efficient operation of camera equipment and help us deliver high-quality content. You'll work closely with colleagues across production, building strong working relationships and contributing to a collaborative team environment where no two days are the same.

  • Experience of working in a technical role within television, broadcast, live production or a comparable technical environment, e.g Technical Assistant or Camera Assistant on a UK TV Production.
  • Basic understanding of camera, lens technology, lighting techniques and production technology.
  • Demonstrable understanding of how camera techniques contribute to visual storytelling and audience engagement within television.
  • Proven basic understanding of camera mountings, dolly, track, and cranes.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to handle and move production equipment safely. Appropriate training, equipment and reasonable adjustments will be considered where required.
  • Demonstrable ability to work professionally, follow instructions and maintain high standards of conduct in a production, technical or operational environment.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and professional conduct within a production environment., Understanding of camera and lens technology, including how camera work contributes to visual storytelling.
  • Knowledge of dollies, track, cranes and camera mountings.
  • Health and safety awareness within a studio or production environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt your approach when working with different people and situations.
  • A practical and systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to learning and professional development.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Passion for television production and a desire to develop a career within continuing drama.
