Job summary

Lift Clacton is seeking an exam invigilator to help create calm, fair and well-organised exam experiences. You will work with the exams officer to ensure every exam runs smoothly and candidates feel supported.

Responsibilities include setting up rooms, supervising students, checking identity, and handling disruptions in line with JCQ regulations. Prior experience not essential, but safeguarding and professionalism are essential.

Qualifications

• has good literacy skills and holds GCSE maths and English (grade 4) or equivalent qualifications.
• can stay calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations with professionalism.
• communicates clearly and confidently, especially when giving instructions to large groups.
• works well as part of a team and builds trusted relationships with colleagues and students.
• uses their own initiative and follows schedules to meet deadlines.
• shows a genuine commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people.

Responsibilities

• set up exam rooms according to seating plans and make sure everything is ready before students arrive;
• check student identity, verify attendance, and distribute exam papers and materials;
• supervise students calmly and carefully during exams, making sure everyone follows the rules;
• handle any questions from candidates and respond to any disruptions or emergencies according to school policies;
• collect exam papers and materials carefully at the end of each exam and return them to the exams officer; and
• support students to leave the exam room in an orderly way and help restore the venue afterwards.
