Job summary

Compass Community is seeking a Residential Support Worker in Lewes, East Sussex. You will join a therapeutic home and help children build confidence and develop essential life skills within a supportive team.

Veterans or service leavers are welcome, with comprehensive induction and ongoing guidance. Training includes two weeks classroom and shadow shifts, plus potential Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 12 months.

Qualifications

• No prior experience in residential care required.
• Dependable, caring and committed to supporting a child’s life.
• Age 22+ in line with Ofsted requirements.
• Hold a valid manual driving licence.
• Pass an Enhanced DBS check.
• Be able to work as part of a team and in a home setting.
• Willing to undertake sleep‑in duties as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Building safe, trusting and consistent relationships with children and young people.
• Supporting children with activities, appointments and everyday routines.
• Protecting their health, wellbeing and safety at all times.
• Providing appropriate supervision and support based on each child’s needs.
• Remaining calm, patient and reassuring during challenging situations.
• Helping with everyday household tasks, including cooking, cleaning and shopping.
• Creating timetables, maintaining paperwork and writing reports.
• Working closely with colleagues to provide stable care.
