Job summary

South Wales Police’s Public Service Centre (PSC) at Bridgend handles all emergency and non-emergency calls, serving as the Force Control Room and first contact for the public. The role involves assessing risk, coordinating resources, and ensuring swift responses to incidents 24/7.

As a Call Handler and Dispatch radio operator, you’ll undergo training, deliver a high-quality service, and support vulnerable people, joining a dedicated team within a 37-hour week in a permanent post with shift

Qualifications

• Evidence of Level 2 English and Maths certificate
• Applicants must be 18+ at time of application
• Willingness to work 24/7 shifts including weekends and bank holidays
• SHL test if evidence is not provided
• Permanent full-time role, 37 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Handle 999/101 calls and assess risk to determine appropriate response
• Dispatch officers and allocate resources to incidents
• Coordinate with ground units and ensure timely, professional response
