Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Calibration Engineer – Quality to join its aerospace metrology team and own the calibration programme. You will manage the GageTrak system, ensure traceability and compliance, and support audits across inspection equipment.

Collaborating with Quality Engineers, Inspectors and Manufacturing teams, you will optimise calibration frequencies, maintain certificates and records, and drive continuous improvement in metrology and measurement integrity.

Qualifications

• Experience in Calibration/Metrology within regulated manufacturing.
• Familiar with calibration principles, traceability and precision inspection equipment.
• Experience in aerospace/defence/precision engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the GageTrak calibration management system.
• Coordinate internal and external calibration activities.
• Maintain calibration schedules, certificates and traceability records.
• Monitor calibration status and ensure equipment remains compliant.
• Review and optimise calibration frequencies and intervals.
• Investigate overdue calibrations and equipment discrepancies.

Role: Calibration Engineer – Quality

Are you passionate about precision measurement, metrology, and quality excellence?

We are representing a growing aerospace precision engineering and R&D organisation manufacturing highly complex, tight-tolerance components for some of the most demanding applications in the industry. As part of their continued investment in quality and compliance, they are looking for a Calibration Engineer to join their Quality Department and take ownership of their calibration and measurement management systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced calibration professional to play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our inspection and measurement systems while supporting groundbreaking aerospace development and manufacturing programmes.

The Role

As a Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the company's calibration programme using the GageTrak Calibration Management System, ensuring all inspection, measurement and test equipment remains compliant, traceable, and available to support manufacturing and R&D activities.

Working closely with Quality Engineers, Inspectors, Manufacturing Engineers and Production teams, you will ensure compliance with AS9100 quality requirements while driving continuous improvement within the metrology and calibration processes.

Key Responsibilities

Calibration & Metrology Management

• Manage and maintain the GageTrak calibration management system.
• Coordinate internal and external calibration activities.
• Maintain calibration schedules, certificates and traceability records.
• Monitor calibration status and ensure equipment remains compliant.
• Review and optimise calibration frequencies and intervals.
• Investigate overdue calibrations and equipment discrepancies.

Inspection Equipment Control

You’ll oversee a wide range of precision measurement equipment including:

• Micrometres
• Digital and Vernier Callipers
• Height Gauges
• Bore Gauges
• Thread Gauges
• Plug and Ring Gauges
• Torque Measuring Equipment
• Surface Roughness Equipment
• CMM artefacts and reference standards
• Electronic measuring instruments

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
• Support internal, customer and third-party audits.
• Maintain calibration procedures and quality documentation.
• Assist with non-conformance investigations relating to measurement systems.
• Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and equipment validation activities.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve calibration efficiency and control.
• Analyse calibration data and trends.
• Reduce equipment downtime through proactive planning.
• Support digitalisation initiatives within the Quality Department.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Experience in a Calibration Engineer, Metrology Engineer, Quality Engineer or similar role.
• Experience managing calibration systems, ideally GageTrak.
• Understanding of calibration principles, measurement traceability and precision inspection equipment.
• Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment such as aerospace, defence, medical, automotive or precision engineering.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and work to high levels of detail.
• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality, Metrology or a related discipline.

Desirable

• Aerospace industry experience.
• Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems.
• Understanding of GD&T and metrology best practices.
• Internal Auditor qualification.
• Experience supporting CMM systems and measurement validation.
• Knowledge of UKAS-accredited calibration requirements.
