Job summary

Compass Group UK&I, at the National Railway Museum in York, is seeking a proactive Café Supervisor to oversee daily café operations and lead the team during service periods.

You will support the Café Manager in staff training, maintaining high food quality, and delivering outstanding visitor experiences in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or team-leading experience in a café or public catering.
• Hands-on approach during busy service periods.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and coach team members.
• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, visitor-focused environment.
• Basic financial awareness and understanding of targets.
• Knowledge of health & safety and food safety standards.
• Desirable: experience in contract catering or high-volume visitor operations.

Café Supervisor

Location: National Railway Museum, York

Salary: £27,600 per year

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent, 5 over 7 days

We’re looking for a proactive and motivated Café Supervisor to support the day-to-day operations of the café at the National Railway Museum in York. This is a hands‑on role where you will work alongside your team to deliver excellent service, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure the café operates smoothly during service periods. As Café Supervisor, you will support the Café Manager in leading the team, training staff, and providing outstanding visitor experiences.

In this role, you will actively supervise café operations, ensuring that team members deliver excellent service, maintain food quality, and follow all operational and health & safety procedures. You will lead by example, working alongside your team during service periods, and supporting the Café Manager in delivering a profitable and compliant operation.
