Job summary

Jewish Care in London is seeking a friendly Café Assistant to join the hospitality team at Sugar Ronson Campus. You will help provide a welcoming café and hospitality service for residents, visitors and colleagues, from preparing food and refreshments to serving customers and supporting events.

The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends and evenings; hours are 7.30am–3pm or 8.30am–4pm.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality, café or catering environments.
• Basic Food Hygiene qualification or willingness to obtain.
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with residents and colleagues.
• Willingness to work across a rota including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and professional customer service to residents, visitors, community members and colleagues.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold food, beverages and light refreshments.
• Set up and maintain café counters, dining areas and hospitality spaces.
• Operate the till and process payments accurately.
• Receive, store and replenish stock.
• Support hospitality functions, events and wider catering activities across the campus.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and presentation.
• Follow food safety, allergen, COSHH, infection control and health and safety procedures.
• Complete required food safety and due-diligence records accurately.
• Work effectively both as part of a team and independently when required.
• Attend training, meetings and supervision and take responsibility for development.
• Help create a positive and welcoming environment reflecting Jewish Care’s values.

About the role

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Café Assistant to join our hospitality team at Sugar Ronson Campus.

This role is working 35 hours per week Monday to Friday with an expectation to to work occasional weekends and evenings. Hours are from 7.30am to 3pm or 8.30am to 4pm.

You will play an important role in providing a welcoming café and hospitality service for residents, community members, visitors and colleagues. From preparing food and refreshments to serving customers and supporting events, you will help ensure everyone receives a friendly, professional and responsive service.

You will also help maintain clean, safe and welcoming café, dining and hospitality areas, while following all food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing friendly and professional customer service to residents, visitors, community members and colleagues.

• Setting up and maintaining café counters, dining areas and hospitality spaces.

• Following food safety, allergen, COSHH, infection control and health and safety procedures.
• Completing required food safety and due-diligence records accurately.
• Working effectively both as part of a team and independently when required.
• Attending relevant training, meetings and supervision and taking responsibility for your own development.

About you

You will ideally have previous experience working in a hospitality, café or catering environment and have a Basic Food Hygiene qualification, or be willing to undertake and pass the qualification.
