Job summary

KierBAM Fairstead Plymouth is seeking a CAD Engineer to join the BIM team at the Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth. You will deliver high-quality technical drawings and documentation, supporting the BIM team and ensuring compliance with CAD standards and ISO 19650.

Responsibilities include producing rebar design, mentoring site engineers, and coordinating with Document Control to review drawings before client submissions.

Qualifications

• Proficient in AutoCAD and rebar design/checking.
• Strong understanding of civil/structural design principles and ability to produce drawings.
• Able to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team with good communication skills.
• Basic awareness of ISO 19650 (Level 2 BIM) or BS1192 standards.

Job description

We're looking for a CAD Engineer to join our KierBAM team based in Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Location: Plymouth – Devonport Royal Dockyard
Hours: 42.5 hours per week

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

Due to thesensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks. KierBAM is a Joint Venture partnership between Kier and BAM Nuttall. We're working on an exciting Major Project at Devonport dockyard, where we're refurbishing the Royal Navy dockyard. This is an opportunity to be part of a significant infrastructure project in a unique environment, contributing your technical expertise to support national defence operations.

What will you be responsible for?

As a CAD Engineer, you'll be working within the BIM team, supporting them in delivering high-quality technical drawings and documentation. Your day to day will include:

• Acting as a subject matter expert for drawing production and providing technical support to team members
• Ensuring all drawing work complies with ISO 19650, BAM and CAD standards
• Supporting the Document Control team to review drawings before client submission
• Producing rebar design and detailing work with accuracy and attention to detail
• Training and mentoring site engineers and team members on drawing production standards
