Job summary

Glasswell & Last Ltd, based in the United Kingdom, is seeking a Mechanical CAD Technician to join their growing mechanical design team. The role focuses on producing accurate general arrangement, fabrication and as-built drawings using Autodesk tools within a BIM-enabled workflow.

The ideal candidate will have AutoCAD or Inventor experience, strong MS Word/Excel skills, and a full UK driving licence for occasional travel to site.

Qualifications

• Good computer skills, with experience using MS Word and Excel.
• Full UK driving licence and use of your own car for business travel.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate general arrangement, fabrication and as-built drawings.
• Produce other outputs including bills of quantities and datasheets.
• Use document management in BIM: upload drawings for review/approval and capture comments.
• Liaise with project management to develop project costings.
• Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams and incorporate feedback for future projects.

Glasswell & Last Ltd are currently looking to fill a position for a Mechanical CAD Technician.

Salary range is based upon previous experience and formal qualifications.

We are looking for an individual with experience in working with Autodesk products such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Plant3D, Revit, Advanced Steel or ASD

This is a varied role with projects typically being within the water, waste water and industrial utility sectors.

You will be part of our growing mechanical design team, the role is data orientated and you must have a keen eye for detail and be confident to ask questions, meticulous quality-control and record keeping are essential.

You will also value being part of a team that puts emphasis on delivering an outstanding service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Production of accurate general arrangement, fabrication and as built drawings
• Production of other required design outputs including bills of quantities and collation of manufacturer's technical datasheets.
• Effective use of document management techniques within a BIM environment i.e. uploading drawings for review and approval and ensuring comments and amendments are captured.
• To liaise with the project management team to develop project costings.
• To liaise with our fabrication and installation teams and clarify technical details, taking on board feedback and improvements for future projects.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

• Experience with Autodesk software such as: AutoCAD or Inventor
• Good computer skills, with experience using common software packages like MS Word, Excel.
• Full UK driving licence and use of your own car (Mileage reimbursed in line with HMRC rates should you have to use your own vehicle for business travel)

Advantageous Skills and Qualifications:

• Ability to create 3D models from various stages of design input using Inventor
• A recognised time served apprenticeship in a related discipline.
• ONC, OND, HNC, HND or Degree in mechanical, production or structural engineering or a closely related discipline

• Team player
