Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking a CAD Technician to join its Wakefield design team, delivering 2D and 3D drawings for water and wastewater projects from concept to construction.

You will collaborate with engineers and clients, using AutoCAD LT and Civils 3D to produce accurate, buildable drawings and support design development through construction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a CAD Technician or Civil CAD Technician.
• Strong 2D CAD skills, especially AutoCAD.
• Water and wastewater or civil infrastructure experience.
• Understanding of civil engineering design principles and drawing standards.
• Experience with Civils 3D or Revit is beneficial.
• Knowledge of UK water industry standards, CDE workflows or CDM regulations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Produce and develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings for civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Use AutoCAD LT to produce plans, sections, details and general arrangement drawings.
• Convert engineer mark-ups, survey information and client requirements into clear, accurate and buildable drawings.
• Support design development from concept through to detailed design and construction.
• Review survey and site information to support design development and pre-construction activities.
• Work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical design solutions.
• Respond to CAD, BIM and drawing queries during design and construction.
• Assist with resolving technical drawing and model issues.
• Ensure design information is delivered to the required quality, programme and project standards.

Overview:

A growing infrastructure business is looking to recruit a CAD Technician to join its expanding Design Team in the Wakefield area. This is a great opportunity for a CAD Technician with experience in water and wastewater, or a wider civil engineering / infrastructure background, to support the delivery of engineering projects from initial concept through to detailed design and construction.

As a CAD Technician, you will work within a multidisciplinary design team to produce accurate, practical and buildable design information, working closely with engineers, designers, project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce and develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings for civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
• Use AutoCAD LT to produce plans, sections, details and general arrangement drawings.
• Convert engineer mark-ups, survey information and client requirements into clear, accurate and buildable drawings.
• Support design development from concept through to detailed design and construction.
• Review survey and site information to support design development and pre-construction activities.
• Work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical design solutions.

• Assist with resolving technical drawing and model issues.

• Follow company procedures relating to quality, environmental and information management.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous experience as a CAD Technician, Civil CAD Technician or similar.
• Strong 2D CAD skills, particularly AutoCAD.
• Water and wastewater experience is highly desirable, although relevant infrastructure or civil engineering experience will also be considered.
• Sound understanding of civil engineering design principles, terminology and drawing standards.
• Experience with Civils 3D, Revit or other 3D CAD software would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of UK water industry standards, CDE workflows or CDM Regulations would be advantageous.
• Good communication and organisational skills, with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport would be advantageous.
