Job description

CAD Manager

Are you an experienced CAD professional ready to take ownership of survey data and digital standards on a major infrastructure project?

This is an excellent opportunity to lead engineering-survey CAD operations across a complex, high-profile construction project. You will shape CAD standards, improve the way critical information is managed and shared, and ensure engineering, surveying and design teams have the accurate data they need to deliver safely and effectively.

The Role

Working closely with engineering, surveying, design and utilities specialists, you will oversee the production, processing and delivery of survey CAD data throughout the project.

You will provide technical leadership, develop efficient workflows and ensure that CAD information - including safety-critical subsurface and setting-out data - is accurate, controlled and compliant with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee engineering-survey CAD operations across the project.

  • Manage the production, processing and delivery of survey data in accordance with project CAD specifications.

  • Ensure engineering, surveying and design teams are using the correct CAD information and working to agreed standards.

  • Develop, implement and maintain CAD standards, procedures, workflows and best practices.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to understand requirements and deliver accurate, timely CAD outputs.

  • Manage the flow of information between design teams and site-based engineering and surveying teams.

  • Work closely with surveying and utilities specialists to ensure subsurface and utility data is accurately recorded, represented and shared.

  • Improve the management of safety-critical CAD information used for activities such as permits to dig.

  • Enhance the process for issuing and using setting-out information on site.

  • Provide technical guidance, training and ongoing support to CAD and survey software users.

  • Manage CAD software licences, upgrades and associated hardware resources.

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, industry regulations and project requirements.

  • Promote innovation, consistency and continuous improvement across CAD operations.

What You'll Bring
  • Previous experience in CAD or survey-data management.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory, leadership or management position.

  • Strong experience processing and delivering survey data in multiple CAD formats.

  • Previous experience working on construction or civil infrastructure projects.

  • Knowledge of ISO 19650 BIM processes and protocols.

  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or comparable CAD platforms.

  • A sound understanding of standards and regulations relating to design documentation.

  • Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with engineering, surveying, design and site teams.

  • A degree in surveying, engineering, architecture, drafting technology or a related discipline would be advantageous.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is more than a traditional CAD management position. You will have the opportunity to establish best practice, influence project-wide digital processes and improve how complex engineering information is used in both design and live construction environments, putting your own stamp on a project.

Your work will play a direct role in supporting safe site operations, improving collaboration and helping a nationally significant infrastructure project succeed.

If you are an experienced CAD or survey-data professional looking for greater responsibility, technical variety and the chance to make a visible impact, we would be keen to hear from you.
