Description
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to boost our 3D design capacity; working with a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and scientists to drive forward our next-generation biosensing product. The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in 3D design and deep experience in design for manufacture. Creativity, attention to detail, motivation, and a drive for technical improvement are essential to contribute effectively to our team and product success.

Responsibilities

1. 3D computer-aided design (CAD) in SolidWorks
2. Engineering drawing creation
3. Contribution to tolerance analysis activities
4. Designing for manufacture (focus on, but not limited to, injection-moulding and machining)
5. Thorough documentation of design process using decision logs, design reviews and technical reports
6. Management of vendors and manufacturers
7. Prototyping and proving concepts from a technical standpoint
8. Adherence to our processes and quality management system (QMS)

Past Experience

1. 3D design for injection-moulded components and machined parts
2. Experience designing for prototyping and proofs of concept

Requirements

1. Engineering design skills comparable to 2-3 years of relevant experience
2. High competence with 3D mechanical design software
3. Strong technical communication skills
4. Keen attention to detail
5. Hands-on assembly and craft skills
6. Ability to analyze tolerance stacks and consider manufacturing variations
7. Solid foundation in fundamental engineering principles (solid mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials)
8. Good intuition of small-scale mechanical systems
9. Thorough engineering documentation approach
10. Ability to use engineering tools/software to improve work efficiency and quality
11. Basic testing skills to support product design
12. Drive for excellence and continuous improvement

Preferred Skills

1. Experience with electromechanical systems
2. Experience with fluidic/microfluidic design
3. Familiarity with pneumatic systems
4. Basic electronic circuit knowledge
5. Experience designing microfabricated/high-precision components
6. Practical experience with analysis tools like MATLAB/Octave, LabView, ANSYS
