Job Summary
We are currently looking for a CAD Draughtsperson to join our Infrastructure and Laboratory Services Function within the Corporate group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Infrastructure And Laboratory Services (I&LS) Provide Engineering And Specialist Staff To Deliver a Safe Working Environment For Staff, Particularly In Our Specialist Scientific Facilities. They Support The Agency Work By Having Clear Funded Programmes To Maintain The Infrastructure, Facilities And Equipment As Well As Money To Invest In Unique Scientific Facilities And a Centralised Support Process To, Where Appropriate, Deliver Efficiencies, Savings And Value For Money. The Division Has Three Departments
- Facilities & Laboratory Services – day to day running & support of sites, laboratories and other specialised facilities, security, catering, cleaning, waste and 10SC liaison for 10th Floor
- Engineering – Management of engineeringly complex buildings and infrastructure, adhering to critical health and safety requirements and responding to alarms 24/7
- Specialist Project & Programme Management – of the Capital programme by providing Project Management / project engineering as required for: building alterations, lab refurbs including high containment, acquisition, installation and commissioning of new plant, equipment and digital IT and special programmes
What’s the role?
The post holder is responsible for draughting, updating and managing the Site paper and digital drawings using the Engineering Drawing Document Management System (EDDMS), as well as logging and tracking all South Mimms Site planning applications. They will also be the first point of contact for dealing with issues related to technical and other drawings and planning applications.

- Responsible for the draughting, safe storage, version control and management of all site drawings, including legacy, record, and other drawings. Undertaking regular reviews to ensure all drawings are up to date and stored correctly.
- Accountable for administration of and maintaining the Engineering Drawing Document Management System (EDDMS), ensuring all drawings and drawing management packages used by ILS are kept up to date and licenses renewed as needed. Managing the receipt, identification, storage, retention and accessibility of such items. Ensuring all changes to documents are documented and controlled and protected in line with Agency Security requirements.
- Responsible for supporting the ILS Function to provide a drawing service and access to drawing information and providing training and guidance as and when required, and providing drawing layouts and options as requested by Agency staff
- Responsible for undertaking all planning applications for the South Mimms site, including keeping a central log of applications and their status and ensuring GIA information is up to date and reported on an annual basis.

Person specification
Our Successful Candidate Will Have
- A professional qualification in AutoCAD or similar and considerable understanding of document control systems, GIA calculations and planning applications.
- 5 GSCE’s including English and Maths and good understanding of relevant IT software applications (e.g. drawing management packages, document control software)
- Considerable experience and knowledge in drawing management and control, likely to be achieved in a similar engineering or architectural environment.
- Experience of working within a laboratory and/or high security environment
- The skills to manage a quality service with stakeholders to set priorities, objectives and timescales, successfully delivering high quality outcomes that meet the customers’ needs and gives value for money
