Job summary

Mech Electrics Limited is seeking an MEP CAD Technician for their Heywood site in Greater Manchester. You will support the production of detailed MEP drawings and models from design information and coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams.

MEP CAD TECHNICIAN

CAD TECHNICIAN - MEP / BUILDING SERVICES

Mech Electrics are recruiting for a long-standing engineering client we've proudly worked with for over 15 years, helping them recruit technical and engineering professionals as the business has continued to grow.

We're looking for a CAD Technician with experience within Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services design who wants the opportunity to develop their career into detailed BIM and LOD 400 modelling.

You do NOT need previous LOD 400 experience.

What we're looking for is someone with good CAD fundamentals, an understanding of MEP services and, most importantly, the appetite to learn.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You'll be based within our client's purpose-built off-site manufacturing facility in Heywood, working from the offices located directly on the manufacturing campus.

This creates a very different environment from a conventional CAD office.

You'll be working alongside Design, Engineering and Manufacturing teams, with direct access to the shop floor where the modules and assemblies you help develop are actually manufactured.

You'll be able to see how drawings and models translate into fabrication, understand why greater levels of design detail matter and progressively develop your skills towards LOD 400.

THE ROLE

Initially you'll support the production and coordination of detailed MEP drawings and models, working closely with experienced members of the Design and Manufacturing teams.

As your knowledge develops, you'll become increasingly involved in producing fabrication-ready information for complex off-site manufactured MEP assemblies and modules.

Typical responsibilities will include:

• Produce and amend detailed MEP CAD drawings.
• Develop coordinated Mechanical and Electrical layouts.
• Work from engineering drawings, specifications and design information.
• Support the development of increasingly detailed BIM models.
• Work closely with Design, Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
• Translate coordinated designs into practical manufacturing information.
• Visit the workshop floor to understand how designs are fabricated and assembled.
• Assist with drawing coordination, revisions and technical documentation.
• Develop your knowledge of LOD 400 and fabrication-level modelling.
• Help build and maintain standard details, component libraries and drawing information.

ABOUT YOU

We're interested in CAD professionals who already understand the fundamentals of Mechanical or Electrical Building Services.

You might currently be working as a:

• MEP CAD Technician
• Mechanical CAD Technician
• Electrical CAD Technician
• Building Services CAD Technician

Experience with AutoCAD is important and any exposure to Revit, BIM, 3D modelling or fabrication software would be advantageous, but we're not expecting you to arrive as an LOD 400 specialist.

What matters is that you're technically curious, accurate, comfortable working with engineers and genuinely interested in developing your skills.
