Job summary

United Living Group is seeking a CAD designer for our United Infrastructure Transmission and Distribution team in the UK. You will create 2-D and 3-D CAD deliverables for HV overhead lines and underground cable projects, supporting engineers and construction teams.

The role offers exposure to civil, structural and electrical CAD work, with a focus on building a career in electricity transmission. Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation skills, and fluent English are essential.

Qualifications

• ISCED level 5 with NVQ level 4 or HNC in CAD.
• Minimum 8 years CAD experience.
• GCSEs in Mathematics and English (C or higher).
• Desirable: further education achievements in CAD outputs.
• Desirable: ability to work maturely in a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Produce CAD models in AutoCAD Civil 3D to support studies and construction.
• Produce drawings, sketches, and reports to convey outputs to stakeholders.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality before review.
• Deliver work within the agreed budget and programme as far as practicable.
• Keep updated on quality management procedures and discipline specs.

Job Description

The United Infrastructure Transmission and Distribution team provides HV OHL design supporting construction, procurement, and consultancy on a variety of projects within the sector. Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution business United Infrastructure has a unique opportunity for CAD designers keen to broaden their expertise and work on critical UK transmission projects.

This role will suit someone looking for the opportunity to use their CAD skill to build a career in Electricity Transmission. The role will provide the exposure to civil, structural and electrical 2-D and 3D CAD deliverables utilised to support our construction on a variety of HV overhead line and underground cable projects.

Purpose Of The Position

Deliver drawings, design deliverables and documents as directed by the engineers and designers in accordance the engineering procedures and guidance notes.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Produce CAD models in AutoCAD Civil 3-D to support engineering studies and construction activities.
• Produce drawings, sketches, and reports to convey the outputs form Engineering to stakeholders internally and externally.
• Ensure that the quality of all your deliverables before passing to others for review.
• Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and programme.
• Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.

Qualifications

ISCED level 5 – Minimum NVQ level 4, HNC in CAD applicable subject

Work experience – Minimum experience of 8years in a CAD role.

Essential

• Computer Literacy in basic software packages including Word, Excel, Power point etc
• Some level of expertise in producing CAD outputs with packages including but not restricted to AutoCAD and / or MicroStation.
• GCSE pass (C or higher) in Mathematics and English
• Fluent spoken and written English language.

Desirable

• Post school level education achievements in relevant area for delivering engineering CAD outputs.
• Ability to work maturely in a diverse team.
