Job summary

SP Energy Networks in Glasgow is seeking a CAD Designer to deliver 2D drawings and 3D models for transmission and distribution projects. You will support the ED2 to ED3 transition by producing accurate drawings, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant delivery of critical network infrastructure.

The role requires experience with AutoCAD, Revit and Civil 3D, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • HNC in CAD or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk design software.
  • Full UK driving licence with the ability to attend site when required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop feasibility and detailed design drawings to support project delivery.
  • Ensure outputs meet health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
  • Manage workload effectively and deliver to agreed timescales.

  • Promote drawing standards, procedures and quality assurance requirements.

CAD Designer Glasgow Salary starting from £45,400 to £56,750 Permanent/Hybrid Closing Date: 23/09/2026

What you’ll be doing

As a CAD Designer, you will play a key role in supporting ScottishPower’s expanding Drawing Office, delivering engineering drawing solutions for a portfolio of over 150 projects and more than £30m of annual network investment. Supporting the transition from ED2 to ED3, you will produce accurate, compliant and high-quality drawings for Electrical Protection & Control projects, working collaboratively with engineers and stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of critical network infrastructure.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience producing engineering drawings and models within a utility, infrastructure or engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk design tools such as Revit and Civil 3D.
  • Understanding of drawing standards, quality processes and health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
  • HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum Criteria
  • HNC in Computer Aided Design, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent drawing office experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other Autodesk design software.
  • Full UK driving licence with the ability to attend site when required.
