Job summary

SP Energy Networks, part of the Iberdrola Group, is seeking a CAD Designer in Glasgow to support the Drawing Office on 150+ projects and £30m+ annual investment. You will produce 2D drawings and 3D models for transmission and distribution, ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards are met.

You’ll have experience in utilities, proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk tools, and hold an HNC in CAD/Engineering or equivalent. A full UK driving licence is required for site visits.

Qualifications

  • HNC in Computer Aided Design or related discipline or equivalent drawing office experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk software with strong drawing conventions.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to attend sites when required.

Responsibilities

  • Produce 2D drawings and 3D models for transmission and distribution projects.
  • Develop feasibility and detailed design drawings to support project delivery.
  • Ensure outputs meet health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
  • Manage workload and deliver work to agreed timescales.
  • Maintain drawing databases and support controlled design change processes.
  • Review and assess engineering drawings during approval stages.
  • Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
  • Support continuous improvement within the Drawing Office.

Supporting the transition from ED2 to ED3, you will produce accurate, compliant and high-quality drawings for Electrical Protection & Control projects, working collaboratively with engineers and stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of critical network infrastructure.* Produce 2D drawings and 3D models for transmission and distribution projects.* Develop feasibility and detailed design drawings to support project delivery.* Ensure all outputs meet health, safety, quality and environmental standards.* Manage your workload effectively and deliver work to agreed timescales.* Maintain drawing databases and support controlled design change processes.* Review and assess engineering drawings during approval stages.* Promote drawing standards, procedures and quality assurance requirements.* Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.* Support continuous improvement within the Drawing Office.**What You'll Bring*** Experience producing engineering drawings and models within a utility, infrastructure or engineering environment.* Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk design tools such as Revit and Civil 3D.* Understanding of drawing standards, quality processes and health and safety requirements.* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.* HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.**Minimum Criteria*** HNC in Computer Aided Design, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent drawing office experience.* Proficiency in AutoCAD and other Autodesk design software.* Full UK driving licence with the ability to attend site when required.**What’s in it for you**As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
