Job summary

Matchtech Group is sourcing a CAD Engineer for a contract role in the aerospace sector. You will create accurate 3D geometry from existing designs and CAD data, supporting UAS sub-modules and aerospace assemblies.

Your work will involve Creo-based modelling, WINDCHILL data management, and applying the AAX plugin to Creo as needed, with collaboration across manufacturing facilities for fast-turnaround parts and material decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience in 3D CAD engineering, preferably in aerospace.
• UAS/drone or radome design experience is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret CAD data and develop geometry from designs.
• Proficiency in Creo and Windchill file management.
• Experience with the AAX plugin for Creo is desirable.
• Security clearance preferred or obtainable where required.

Responsibilities

• Developing detailed 3D CAD geometry from existing designs and data.
• Create and refine surface and skeleton models using a top-down approach.
• Develop UAS sub-modules and integrate onto assemblies.
• Work with Creo to create, modify and refine aerospace components.
• Manage CAD data with Windchill and apply the AAX plugin where needed.
• Assist with aerodynamic enclosures and radome design and liaise with manufacturing.

Our client, a leading organisation in the aerospace sector, is seeking a CAD Engineer for a contract opportunity. The role will involve creating accurate 3D geometry based on existing designs and CAD data, supporting the development of specialist UAS sub-module components and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing detailed 3D CAD geometry from existing designs and technical data
• Smooth Surface Modelling
• Skeleton Modelling using a top-down approach
• Sub-modules for integration onto UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems)
• Working with Creo to create, modify and refine aerospace components
• Using WINDCHILL for CAD data and file management
• Applying the AAX plugin for Creo where required
• Supporting the design of aerodynamic enclosures and radomes
• Liaising with manufacturing facilities to support the fast-turnaround production of parts
• Helping to determine suitable materials and manufacturing methods
• Maintaining accurate design records and ensuring work meets relevant technical requirements

Job Requirements:

• Experience in 3D CAD engineering, ideally within the aerospace industry
• UAS, Drone or Radome experience
• Strong ability to interpret and develop geometry from existing CAD data and designs
• Proficiency in Creo
• Understanding of WINDCHILL file management
• Experience using, or the ability to work with, the AAX plugin for Creo
• Knowledge of aerodynamic enclosures or radome design would be advantageous
• Ability to communicate effectively with manufacturing teams and external facilities
• SC Clearance is strongly preferred, with the ability to obtain security clearance where required
