Job summary

Express Recruitment are partnering with a reputable East Midlands joinery firm to appoint an experienced CAD Design Engineer. The role offers a generous starting salary up to £42,000, private medical care, enhanced sick pay, pension, and 30 days holiday including stats.

The candidate will produce high-quality joinery drawings, carry out site setting out, and work across AutoCAD, SketchUp and SolidWorks, with occasional site attendance and travel reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Joinery/carpentry background or degree in Product Design preferred.
• Experience producing high-quality bespoke joinery drawings using AutoCAD.
• Ability to carry out site setting out with minimal supervision.
• Experience on bespoke design projects from concept to completion.
• Experience in detailed site surveys.

Responsibilities

• Produce setting out drawings based on client requirements.
• Attend project and production meetings.
• Visit client sites for surveys and setting out procedures.
• Produce detailed loading sheets and prototype drawings.
• Modify drawings per Design Manager/customer requests.
• Utilise AutoCAD, SketchUp and SolidWorks for designs.
• Manage workload to meet project deadlines.
• Source supplier quotations and support material procurement.

Express Recruitment are proud to be working with one of the East Midlands most reputable firms within the bespoke joinery sector. They have years of experience in delivering high end design, manufacturing & installation projects for some of the UK’s most admired retailers.

Due to boasting a consistently stacked out project pipeline, our client has decided to invest in the recruitment of another experience CAD Design Engineer to join their talented team.

Due to the nature of the role, there will be some requirements to attend client project sites on occasions. Mileage along with all other travel incurred costs will be reimbursed.

Skills & Experience

• Apprenticeship trained in Joinery and Carpentry or degree in Product Design ideally preferred
• Proven experience in producing high-quality bespoke joinery drawings using AutoCAD
• Ability to carry out on site setting out duties with minimal supervision
• Experienced in working on bespoke designing projects from concept to completion
• Experienced in carrying out detailed site surveys
• Previous experience of operating shopfloor machinery desirable (e.g. Edgebanders, Band Saws, Planers, Sanders etc.)
• Full UK Driving License
• Produce accurate setting out drawings based on clients’ bespoke requirements
• Attend project meetings and production meetings
• Visit client sites and carry out site surveys and setting out procedures
• Produce highly detailed setting out rods
• Produce detailed loading sheets and prototype drawings
• Perform modifications to drawing specifications based on request from Design Manager and customers
• Utilise a range of design packages, including AutoCAD, SketchUp and Solidworks
• Manage own workload effectively to meet strict project deadlines and SLA timescales
• Source supplier quotations and support material procurementProduce accurate cutting lists ready to handover to the CNC machining department
