Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of an established and highly regarded specialist manufacturing business based in Rutland.

Our client works on bespoke projects for customers across the UK and internationally, producing customised flooring, surface designs, branded installations and specialist products for sectors including sport, events, leisure and commercial environments.

This is a hands-on opportunity within a growing production team.

The successful candidate will be trained to work across CAD preparation, digital cutting machinery, material assembly and quality control, making this particularly well suited to someone who enjoys practical work and has an interest in learning technical and creative production skills.

The Role

As a CAD Cutting & Production Operator, you will take designs from initial concept through to physical production.

You'll work with computer-controlled cutting equipment and a range of specialist surface materials to create accurate shapes, patterns, logos and bespoke designs.

The role combines computer-based work with practical workshop activity, so attention to detail, accuracy and a willingness to get hands-on are important.

Full training will be provided, so previous experience in CAD or automated cutting is not essential.

Key Duties

  • Preparing and working from digital designs and production specifications.

  • Producing accurate cutting files for automated flatbed machinery.

  • Operating computer-controlled cutting equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Cutting specialist flooring and synthetic surface materials to precise shapes and dimensions.

  • Measuring, assembling and bonding individual components to create completed products.

  • Checking finished work against drawings and specifications to maintain a consistently high standard.

  • Moving and positioning materials within the production environment, including the use of a forklift.

  • Keeping machinery, tools and the workshop area clean, organised and well maintained.

  • Supporting installation work at customer sites when required, including occasional travel.

  • Working to production deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.

About You

We're looking for someone who is practical, dependable and comfortable learning new processes.

You don't necessarily need previous CAD or manufacturing experience. More important is a good eye for detail, a positive attitude and the ability to follow instructions and work accurately.

You should ideally have:

  • A practical and hands-on approach to work.

  • Good attention to detail and an appreciation of accuracy.

  • The ability to follow technical instructions and work to deadlines.

  • A willingness to learn new equipment, software and production techniques.

  • Previous forklift experience, with a valid licence preferred, or sufficient experience to undertake appropriate testing.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport, as the site is not readily accessible by public transport.

  • Experience That Would Be Useful

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • CAD or similar design software.

  • CNC, digital cutting or automated machinery.

  • Flooring, carpet or synthetic surface installation.

  • Workshop or manufacturing environments.

  • Working with sheet, textile or other specialist materials.

  • Assembly, fabrication or other precision-based practical work.
