Job summary

Clarke Energy is seeking a meticulous Cable Routing Engineer to join our growing engineering team in the UK. You will design, coordinate and optimise cable routing solutions across projects, ensuring compliance with technical standards and project requirements.

You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical and project engineers to deliver safe, reliable and cost-efficient routing designs. A strong emphasis on attention to detail, documentation and teamwork will support project success.

Qualifications

• Experience in cable routing, layout design or a similar electrical engineering function.
• Familiarity with cable containment systems (tray, ladder, trunking, conduit, etc.).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and standards.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar).
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Experience within power generation, energy, oil & gas or industrial sectors.
• Knowledge of relevant standards (BS, IEC or equivalent).
• Understanding of cable sizing, routing optimisation and installation constraints.
• HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develop cable routing layouts and detailed designs in line with project specifications and industry standards.
• Produce and review cable routing drawings, including tray layouts, ladder systems and conduit runs.
• Ensure all routing designs consider installation feasibility, maintainability and health & safety requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and project engineering teams to integrate routing solutions.
• Carry out cable segregation studies and ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practice.
• Support the preparation of material take-offs and input into procurement processes.
• Resolve technical queries and provide design support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Attend design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation and revision control of engineering deliverables.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, efficient and cost-effective cable routing designs that support safe and reliable operation.
