Job summary

Comex2000uk is seeking self-employed Cable Operatives in Leicester for immediate start dates. This role involves constructing, installing, and maintaining advanced telecommunications networks like Copper, HFC, and fibre.

You will be responsible for heavy cable pulling, adhering to safety standards, and ensuring equipment is in working condition. Candidates should have practical experience with telecommunications and hold the necessary licenses, including a valid UK driving license.

Qualifications

• Sound practical knowledge and experience of Copper, HFC, and FTTP.
• Must hold a full, clean, and valid UK driving license.
• Security Clearance: DBS or necessary security checks will be carried out.

IMMEDIATE START DATES AVAILABLE

This role falls under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). We are looking for self‑employed Cable Operatives to work in and around the Black Country on the VM02 network. As a Cable Operative, you will be at the forefront of constructing, installing, and maintaining advanced telecommunications networks.

What’s involved

• Building and maintaining new and existing core telecommunications access networks, including Copper, HFC, and overhead cables.
• Heavy cable pulling, spanning overhead lines, subducting, and blowing fibre.
• Keeping detailed records of your work using our internal database.
• Adhering to Virgin Media's high standards.
• Following all safety regulations, including the National Roads & Street Works Act.
• Ensuring all equipment is in excellent and safe working condition.

Requirements

About you

• Sound practical knowledge and experience of Copper, HFC, and FTTP.
• You may be required to support the clients in house operation from time to time.
• You are comfortable with technology and eager to learn about telecommunications infrastructure.

Licence/Certification

• NRSWA Unit 2 and PIA Accredited.
• Driving License: You hold a full, clean, and valid UK driving license (minimum 1 year).
• Security Clearance: DBS or necessary security checks will be carried out.

Working 40 hours per week from 8 am–5 pm.

Payments under CIS:

Tax will be deducted from your pay before you receive it, and the contractor will pay this directly to HMRC on your behalf.
