Job summary

Virgin Media is seeking self-employed Cable Operatives to work around the Black Country on the VM02 network. You will be at the forefront of constructing, installing, and maintaining telecommunications access networks.

Role involves heavy cable pulling, overhead spans, fibre blowing and strict safety compliance. Driving license and NRSWA/PIA accreditation are required, with 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm.

Qualifications

• Experience with copper, HFC and FTTP networks.
• Ability to support client in-house operations when required.
• Comfortable with technology and learning telecoms infrastructure.

We are looking for Self Employed Cable Operative’s to work in and around the Black Country on the VM02 network. As aCable Operative, you will be at the forefront of constructing, installing, and maintaining advanced telecommunications networks.

What’s involved

• Building and maintaining new and existing core telecommunications access networks, including Copper, HFC, and overhead cables.


• Heavy cable pulling, spanning overhead lines, subducting, and blowing fibre.


• Keeping detailed records of your work using our internal database.


• Adhering to Virgin Media's high standards


• Following all safety regulations, including the National Roads & Street Works Act.


• Ensuring all equipment is in excellent and safe working condition.

Requirements

About you

• Sound practical knowledge and experience of Copper, HFC, and FTTP.


• You may be required to support the clients in house operation from time to time.


• You are comfortable with technology and eager to learn about telecommunications infrastructure.

Licence/Certification

• NRSWA Unit 2 and PIA Accredited


• Driving License: You hold a full, clean, and valid UK driving license (minimum 1 year)


• Security Clearance: DBS/necessary security checks will be carried out.

Working 40 hours per week from 8am - 5pm

Payments under CIS:

Tax will be deducted from your pay before you receive it, and the contractor will pay this directly to HMRC on your behalf.
