Job summary

Huxley is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop and operate ultra-high-performance C++ systems in a major equities trading environment in London. You will own features end-to-end from concept through deployment, and mentor engineers while working with product stakeholders across Europe.

The role focuses on order entry, matching engines, market data distribution and low-latency infrastructure within a highly collaborative team handling real-time trading workloads.

Qualifications

Significant professional experience with Modern C++ (C++11 or later).
Strong understanding of performance optimisation and low-level system design.
Proven track record delivering features from concept to production.
Experience mentoring or supporting fellow engineers.
Experience developing and supporting applications within Linux environments.

Build High-Performance Trading Systems

Design, develop and enhance low-latency C++ applications across five equities trading environments
Deliver robust, scalable and production-ready solutions with a strong focus on quality and performance

Own Features End-to-End

Take ownership from initial design through implementation, testing and deployment
Collaborate closely with engineers, product teams and business stakeholders
Drive technical decisions and ensure successful delivery of complex initiatives

Lead and Mentor

Support and develop less experienced engineers
Act as a technical expert for key systems and services
Contribute to technical discussions, architecture reviews and engineering best practices

Support a Mission-Critical Platform

Investigate and resolve complex production issues
Help maintain the reliability and availability of trading systems
Participate in an on-call support rota when required

Shape the Future Team

Interview and evaluate engineering candidates
Help build an exceptional technology organisation

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

Significant professional experience with Modern C++ (C++11 or later)
