Job summary

Axon Moore is recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing online retailer for a commercially minded Buyer to own Home Accessories and Kitchen, with a focus on soft furnishings. You will manage product development, range planning and supplier negotiations to deliver on trend, margin and sales targets.

Based in Manchester, this office-based role offers exposure to cross-functional teams and opportunities to shape a growing homeware offer for a broad customer base.

Qualifications

Are you a commercially minded Buyer with a passion for homeware, product development and spotting emerging trends?

We are working with a fast-growing online retailer looking to appoint a Buyer to take ownership of its Home Accessories and Kitchen category, with a particular focus on soft furnishings.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Buyer to develop commercially successful product ranges, negotiate with international suppliers and help shape an evolving homeware offering for a broad customer base.

The Role (office based)

Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will manage the product development and buying process from initial concept through to launch, ensuring the range is on trend, commercially competitive and delivers against sales and margin targets.

Working closely with Merchandising, Ecommerce and other internal teams, you will take ownership of your category, balancing product innovation, customer demand and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and building commercial product ranges across home accessories and soft furnishings, balancing core lines, seasonal products and newness.
• Managing the full product development process, from initial concept through to sample approval and launch.
• Keeping ahead of homeware trends, colours, designs and competitor activity to identify new product opportunities.
• Negotiating with suppliers on cost prices, payment terms, minimum order quantities and lead times.
• Managing sales, intake and achieved margins, using data to identify best and worst sellers and make informed range decisions.
• Managing the critical path to ensure products are delivered on time and to the required quality standards.
• Working directly with Far East factories and agents, building strong supplier relationships and identifying new sourcing opportunities.
• Reviewing samples and product specifications, ensuring quality standards are met before bulk production.
• Working with Ecommerce and Marketing to ensure products are accurately presented online and supported through campaigns and promotional activity.
• Preparing range reviews, trading updates and post-season analysis.

About You

You will bring demonstrable buying experience within an online or multichannel retail environment, ideally within Home, Seasonal or a comparable fast paced category.

You will also have:

• Demonstrable experience in a Buying role gained within an online or multichannel retailer. Typically gained across several years at Junior or Buyer level.
• Buying experience within Home, Seasonal or a comparable fast paced and large category.
• Experience of managing a critical path and delivering ranges to deadline.
• Experience of negotiating directly with suppliers on price and terms.
• Experience of the sample and approval process through to bulk production.
• Strong commercial awareness and confidence analysing sales and margin data.
• Strong organisational skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including presenting a range to an audience.
• Competent IT skills, including a good working level of Excel.
