Job summary

Butler Rose Ltd is partnering with an established manufacturing business to recruit a Buyer on an initial 6‑month Fixed-Term Contract. You will support day‑to‑day procurement, manage POs, monitor orders, and work with internal teams to ensure material availability.

Ideal candidates will have 1–3 years in a Buyer role within manufacturing/engineering, familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, and SAP experience is a plus. This hands‑on role requires supplier relationship skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years' experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role.
• Experience buying materials in manufacturing/engineering environments.
• Experience with MRP/ERP or purchasing systems.
• SAP experience is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and data management.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with new and existing suppliers.
• Raise and manage Purchase Orders.
• Monitor orders, confirmations and delivery dates.
• Identify and resolve supply issues before they impact operations.
• Use ERP/MRP systems to monitor purchasing and material requirements.
• Manage outstanding orders and act when deliveries are at risk.
• Resolve supplier queries on pricing, quality, delivery, and invoices.
• Maintain purchasing and supplier data in the ERP system.
• Monitor supplier performance on delivery and quality.
• Support supplier reviews and performance improvements.
• Assist with stock and replenishment requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet purchasing needs.
• Support wider Purchasing team with projects and process improvements.

Job description

Buyer - 6-Month FTC

Butler Rose is partnering with an established specialist manufacturing business to recruit a Buyer on an initial 6-month Fixed-Term Contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Buyer with experience in a fast-paced operational environment to join an established procurement function and provide additional support during a period of increased demand.

Working as part of the Purchasing function, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day procurement of materials and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

The role will involve a combination of supplier management, purchase order management, inventory and supply planning, whilst working closely with a range of internal teams to ensure materials are available when required.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing relationships with new and existing suppliers.
• Supporting negotiations around pricing, terms and service levels.
• Raising and managing Purchase Orders.
• Monitoring orders, confirmations and expected delivery dates.
• Identifying and resolving potential supply issues before they impact operations.
• Using ERP/MRP systems to monitor purchasing and material requirements.
• Managing outstanding orders and taking appropriate action where deliveries are at risk.
• Resolving supplier queries relating to pricing, quality, delivery and invoices.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP system.
• Monitoring supplier performance across delivery and quality.
• Supporting supplier reviews and ongoing performance improvements.
• Assisting with stock and replenishment requirements.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure purchasing requirements are met.
• Supporting the wider Purchasing team with projects and process improvements as required.

About You

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and is comfortable working in a busy manufacturing or engineering environment.

You will ideally have:

• 1-3 years' experience in a Buyer or Purchasing position.
• Experience purchasing materials within a manufacturing, engineering or similar environment.
• Experience working with MRP, ERP or purchasing systems.
• SAP experience would be highly desirable.
• Experience raising and managing Purchase Orders.
• Experience working with suppliers and resolving purchasing or delivery issues.
• A good understanding of the wider purchasing and supply chain process.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data management skills.
• Good communication and relationship-building skills.
• A CIPS qualification, ideally Level 3 or above, would also be beneficial but is not essential.
