Job summary

First Call Contract Services in Ipswich is seeking a Buyer to raise and manage purchase orders, chase suppliers, and source electronic components and materials for production.

You will review supplier documentation, verify prices and delivery dates, and collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Goods In and Accounts to ensure on-time delivery and cost accuracy. Probation applies, with pay progression after three months.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing with strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of electronic components (resistors, capacitors, ICs, diodes, transistors, relays and connectors).
• Familiarity with manufacturer part numbers, datasheets and component specifications.

Responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders through our MRP system.
• Chase suppliers and monitor delivery dates, shortages and long-lead components.
• Obtain quotations and source electronic components, PCBs, mechanical parts and other production materials.
• Review supplier acknowledgements and check prices and delivery dates.
• Match supplier invoices against purchase orders and goods received.
• Investigate price, quantity and invoice discrepancies and request credit notes where required.
• Work closely with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Goods In and Accounts.
• Source alternative/equivalent components when parts are obsolete or on long lead times.

We have an exciting opportunity to work for a nationally recognised manufacturing business, considered to be the leader in its field. Pay rates from £26,436 per annum, increasing after a three month probationary period. The role of Buyer is based in Ipswich.

Shifts for Buyer:

• 07:30 to 16:00
• Monday to Friday

Pay :

• £26,436 pa
• Increases after successful completion of three months probation

Main Duties of Buyer:

• Raising and managing purchase orders through our MRP system.
• Chasing suppliers and monitoring delivery dates, shortages and long-lead components.
• Obtaining quotations and sourcing electronic components, PCBs, mechanical parts and other production materials.
• Reviewing supplier acknowledgements and checking prices and delivery dates.
• Matching supplier invoices against purchase orders and goods received.
• Investigating price, quantity and invoice discrepancies and requesting credit notes where required.
• Working closely with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Goods In and Accounts.
• Helping source alternative/equivalent electronic components when parts are obsolete, unavailable or on long lead times.

Experience and skills required:

• Previous purchasing/buying experience and good attention to detail
• Knowledge of electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs, diodes, transistors, relays and connectors would be particularly valuable
• Comfortable working with manufacturer part numbers, datasheets and component specifications
• Experience with purchase invoice matching, supplier queries and ERP/MRP systems would be beneficial
• Organised, proactive, accurate and confident dealing directly with suppliers
• Good communication and IT skills
